Take a moment, right now, to think about what or who you are holding on to that needs to be pruned from your life. Nine times out of ten, that very thing or person is weighing you down with unnecessary stress or strain and keeping you from accelerating at a pace that is in line with your purpose in life.
Dead weight only has one intent and it is to slow you down. In no way does dead weight help in moving you forward, achieving your goals, or lightening your load. Instead, it is designed to hinder you, drag or slow you down, create doubt and fear as well as distract you. In order to increase your acceleration in life, you will have to be brave enough to trim the dead weight or fat that is in your life. You cannot move from where you are to the next level in your life while carrying along dead weight – expecting to see or gain something different. Lighten your load, free up space, and make room for what is to come by trimming the fat.
This may seem easier said than done because it often takes a great deal of courage to let go of something or someone in your life that is no longer serving your higher good. But keep in mind, you cannot fly while holding on to what is weighing you down. The law of gravity says that it will not work. Why do you think airplanes have a weight limit? They would not be able to fly if they were weighed down with luggage that is over the weight limit. It would be impossible for them to remain in the air. So if airplanes are trimming the fat, then why shouldn’t you?
Think about where you are in life right now, where you want to be and what you need to let go of in order to get there. Are you willing to forfeit your promised land because you are afraid to let go? It is not a secret that dead weight provides comfort and familiarity and as a result of this, we keep hanging on to what we need to let go of because we don’t want to face the hard task of letting it go. But because of who God is, you have the strength and courage to love yourself enough to declare and decree that where you are headed is more important than where you are now, and because you know what your promised land holds, you are dumping the baggage, the fat, and the weight that is no longer serving you so that you can accelerate towards that which God has promised to you.
Do not worry about what you are trimming from your life because as a result of your faith in God, He will restore everything that you have had to let go of – making your life one-hundred times better. Do not think that God is not going to replace what you need to let go of, because once you get to your promised land, something or someone better will be waiting there for you. But you have to have the courage, right now, to trim the fat. That is the only way to take flight and take hold of what is waiting for you.
God will not forsake you, but you have to show Him how much you trust Him by releasing what is not serving you. Come to terms with the truth of what your dead weight is, say a prayer to release it, exhale, let it go, and take flight.
