When you have the guts to step out on faith into the unknown and create the life you dream of, with that comes great responsibility. To think for one moment that the life you are currently living and one day dream of living is free from any responsibility is to think that you can live without oxygen. For it is written, “to whom much is given, much is required.” -Luke 12:48

Every day we see and hear about the jet set lives of celebrities and moguls and how glamorous and fun their lives must be, but what we see is the fruit of their labor. Celebrities are not immortal. They are human and have days where they are worn out, frustrated and want to give up, but they keep going – being mindful of the responsibility they have to maintain the life they have been blessed with. Living the glamorous life I’m sure is not easy, it comes with a price. One that many who spend their days and nights dreaming of one day living it, are not willing to pay for fear of the responsibility required.

If you are dreaming of a life different from the one you are currently living, ask yourself if you’ve taken the responsibility for the way things are. If you want to reach your goals and dreams, live like a celebrity or business tycoon are you being responsible with doing what you need to do to see those dreams manifest? You cannot expect to reach your Promised Land if you are not responsible in sowing the seeds to get there. God is not going to bless you with more until you show Him how responsible you are with what you have. Once you show God that He can trust you with where you are, He will elevate you to the next level, but you have to prove to Him that He can trust you because if you cannot handle where you are now, then certainly you will not be able to handle where you are going.

It takes a great amount of effort to create a life of abundance. It’s not going to drop in your lap without facing the responsibility of the work it will take to get there. Not doing anything and expecting to reap the harvest of your dreams is a lazy approach to living a life that has everything to offer you – if you are willing to work for it. Avoiding responsibility will get you nowhere. It will only delay your journey to where you are supposed to be.

Take responsibility for your life now and where you would like to be a year from now. Know that everything that you desire you can have because they are promises that have already been bought with a price. God is just waiting for you to take full responsibility of using the grace that he has given you to do the work required. Show Him that He can trust you with what you have and He within his perfect timing will bless you with more.
